* Pagweak is an aboriginal name meaning "Deep Water". The name, was anglicized to Pugwash, a small fishing village in Nova Scotia and the world-renowned home of the "Thinkers". In 1997 the Pugwash Conference co-shared in the Nobel Peace prize for having brought the two sides in the Cold War ---democracies and communists---together to seek peaceful solutions to a changing world.
